Clarksdale, MS is the birthplace of Blues Music. It is said that Robert Johnson sold his soul to the Devil and the Blues were born at the the crossroads of Highway 61 and 49. Over the years, the actual location has been abandon and this sign represents the mythical crossroads. In the general area of many of the famous blues musicians learned their craft. With the invention of cotton harvesting machinery, the need for so much cheap labor was no longer necessary and there was a great immagration from the south to cities like St. Louis, Chicago, Memphis and Detroit. Buses were a favorite way to travel.
